A Gathering of Worship

Coastal Worship Gatherings - Sundays @ 10AM
A new kind of family gathered in Jesus’ name to…
+ Remember we are known, loved, and accepted by Our Father...
+ Worship the Lord in spirit and truth while we celebrate our identity in the Body of Christ...
Be sent out on a common mission of accurately loving our local and global neighbors.

We were created for relationship, mission, and worship.
While worship can take many forms – Romans 12:1 says it entails offering everything to God: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- this is your spiritual act of worship.” – we undoubtedly participate in a profound form of worship when we come together as a larger Body.  We see our gatherings as a time of celebration, rejuvenation, remembrance, and equipping for lives of radical Mission.

This includes:
  • Story, Word and Sacrament -- Using this as a key time to understand God’s Word for us as individuals and as a whole; focusing on remembering and giving thanks (“eucharist”) for the sacrifice that the Word-made-flesh made for us by regular sharing of the Lord’s Supper.
  • Rich Simplicity -- Worship grounded in the historically orthodox faith and traditional patterns of worship set forth by Christ followers who have gone before us.
  • Music -- Singing along with the Church throughout history, of today, and throughout the world. The hope of offering forth new songs as God stirs them in the people of our community.
  • Prayer -- Something amazing happens when we pray together. In these times of worship, we offer praise to God, and we also sit and listen for what the Spirit has to say to us. We also want our gatherings to be times when people can share their burdens with the larger Body, and to receive practical encouragement.
  • Indigenous -- Speaking the language and idioms – the look, feel, and sound – of the city into which God has placed us. Moreover, when we gather, these times should be a mirror of the daily life of the Coastal community.
  • Children and teens -- Incorporating (not segregating) our young ones as much as possible into the worship practices of the larger community. Separation may sometimes be necessary (for formation of young kids) but the goal should be as much inclusion as possible.
  • Participation – Active engagement rather than passivity or performance. That’s why Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:26 - “When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.” When we come together, we should share food, resources, gifts in order to build up the body of Christ (Acts 2:44, 45).
